Electrical Issue [solved]

Hello everyone,
I am new to this forum. I am having a big issue with my 2008 Honda Civic LX Sedan. I put in a aftermarket Alpine iLX-W650 radio and a auto-vox backup camera. I disconnected the negative battery terminal before starting this project. Proceeded with the install, got everything done, reconnected the battery and started the car, everything worked great so I was like success. Pulled my car out of the garage where I work and parked it. Shut the car off and went inside to check up on any repair that came in. About 5 minutes later I went out to start my car and nothing. If the car started it died a few seconds later; additional symptoms are: 1) car will not come out of park, 2) window will not go up, 3) no idiot lights illuminate, 4) reverse light don't work. I am at a complete loss of what could have happened. I have a feeling some how the immobilizer triggered and is not allowing thing to function properly. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Dennis G.

re: Electrical Issue [solved]

The immobilizer only disables spark and fuel, otherwise the car would function normally. Easiest thing to check first to unplug the radio, see if all the issues go away.

Thank you, makes sense. I took the new radio out and put the factory radio back in and nothing changes.

You will need to check fuses now. Under-hood box and under-dash box. Are you able to check the battery voltage with a meter?

re: Electrical Issue [solved]

Checked the fuses under dash, some fuses don't have power in either ignition position. I need to write down the fuse position number and cross it over to the fuse box under the hood. Starting to make some head way. .

Service manual for the 2006 is below, should be accurate for the 2008. You can look up where each fuse is getting power from. Quite a few seem to come from fuse 2 (50/80A) in the under-hood fuse box.

re: Electrical Issue [solved]

Have you replaced the fuse? Even with a blown fuse you should have power on one side of it.

Yes replaced it, and no power on either side.

re: Electrical Issue [solved]

Fuse 23 does power the radio. I would bet your replacement fuse instantly blew. Unplug the radio then try again.

re: Electrical Issue [solved]

Hello everyone,

Update on my 2008 Civic electrical issue. This case has been solved, thanks to everyone that helped out on this issue. It was something so stupid and simple that over looked because i was so frustrated that i couldn't figure out what was. Fuse #10 in the under dash fuse box had power on one side but not the other. Overlooked and didn't click in my melon.

Thanks again.
