Hi folks,

A couple of days ago the garage replaced the clutch on my 200Km 2008 1.4 ltr Civic. Since then when I turn the headlights on the dashboard dims. When I turn the headlights off the dashboard goes back to normal.
My question is - Is this a setting they enabled or do I need a new battery or something?

That’s been a standard function on cars for several decades now.

The general assumption is that the headlights are turned on when it’s dark out, and fully bright dash lights are distracting.

It can be adjusted by twisting one of the two buttons coming out of the gauge cluster.

Perhaps you didn't notice before or the previous brightness setting was set to maximum so there was no difference, but it has been a feature in pretty much every car since at least the late 80s.

You'd just have to turn the lights up again.

- thanks for that - you were correct, it turn out the **** on the left hand side of the dashboard that I have never touched adjucts the brightness of the dash lights. The garage had turned it to its dimmest setting. Thanks again.

Turns out their is a **** on the dash that adjusts the brightness that I never noticed. The guys in the garage must have turned it down to almost zero for some reason. No need to go messing with electrics - thank God - thanks for your help.
