All the fans decided to quit at same time
All the fans decided to quit at same time
Hello peoples. Trying to diagnose what went wrong on my 09 civic coupe, and scratching my head. Hoping someone has a handy tip to help me fix my problems.
I hopped in a few days back after work and the car sitting in the parking lot and naturally 95+ outside. Cranked the A/C and the cabin blower fan went from full blast to a fizzle and stopped before i even left the parking lot. Oddly both the radiator and a/c condenser fan decided to not engage as well. I know it's a short trip from the parking lot to my house at roughly 5mi but given the temps i would expect the radiator fan to be calling tor a breeze.
I get home no overheating issues thankfully! I say well i had issue w/ the a/c relay a few years back maybe i give that a try. Pop in a new relay for the a/c (marked B) in the engine relay/fuse box.Turn the key on and everything pops on for 5s and I think hey problem solved. Next day i jump in to go to work and 0 fans again no radiator, no a/c compressor, and no radiator fan. So i get back home from work start testing.
I checked all 4 relays all 5 fuses and all seem good. Link below is thee one's listed as 1,9,10,11. for the relays. Fuse 36 i believe it is in the cabin, and then fuse #'s 6,7,11,& 15 in the engine compartment

What's got me stumped is when i first turn the key to the on 2 position the 2 fans for the radiator and A/C compressor cycle on. I can hear the relays click as they activate for a brief test i suppose, but after that quick intial 5s of fan operation they never cycle on again. Even leaving the engine running for 10+ minutes in 90+ heat and having the a/c set to full blast in the cabin, or even cycling through to heat, defrost etc I still get no activity from the fans. 10 minutes is more than enough to get up to operating temps and i would think send the call to send the radiator and a/c compressor fans to high gear. Oddly the temp gauge doesn't show signs of over heating. I am not throwing error codes on an OB II scan.
My test light failed me as apparently the bulb is shot....ordered anew one to come in but waiting for it's arrival. Can anyone suggest some troubleshooting steps to help me? Hopefully not having to take it to a shop to get wrecked on diagnostic and repair fees, so any suggestions is much appreciated!

Get a power probe or jumper wires and you can supply power and ground to various components and test them

In a few cars I've had the radiator/condenser fans will not run if the A/C is low on refrigerant. The low pressure switch actually stops the fans from working. I saw this on a '07 Accord and was shocked it worked that way.
