Battery Terminal

Noticed this on one of the terminals today.

I have a 2010 Honda Civic LX

Did someone do this and is it dangerous to drive the car can it start a fire? The only other thing I can think of is the reflective thermal shield on the hood heating it up

Re: Battery Terminal

I don't know what you think the problem is?
Looks like someone used some big pliers or similar to pull the terminal out?

Re: Battery Terminal

that's the negative side, your chassis is negative (ground)
if it was the positive side (covered by the plastic cap to avoid contact with the chassis) I would be worried.

Honestly, can't tell if that was made with a mechanical means or if it is melted by an electrical short. might have been someone "testing" charge by shorting the battery poles if it was a short...

Re: Battery Terminal

It's fine.
Jumper cables gouge up the terminals. Or as suggested someone needed to use tools to pull the terminal off.
