Hello everyone. So I am trying to help out a buddy of mine with his 2014 Civic LX 1.8L. His car runs and drives fine, but every so often as in every other day or two, he hops in the car, goes to turn the key to crank, and nothing happens but the starter clicking.

We checked all his fuses, not exactly sure how to test the relay but when he tries to crank you can hear the relay click along with the starter click. He tells me that he will just sit there and keep trying and eventually it will just crank over and start until it happens another day. Happens at random, first thing in the morning, after a drive, or after not driving for a couple hours. Any guidance on what to check or how i can make sure its not a bad starter or what else it could be? I would just tap on the starter solenoid but its a bit difficult to get to unless i jack it up being under the intake behind the motor. Anything helps y’all I appreciate it!
