Crazy electrical issues
Crazy electrical issues
hi all,
my friends 2011 Civic LX sat for a long time and the battery was Stone dead. He bought a new battery and put it in and swears he did not cross the cables. But the car wouldn't start as if it weren't getting fuel and the brake ABS module motor was running constantly and a relay in the under the hood fuse box was buzzing whenever he connected the battery. I played around with it for a long time and could not figure anything out but managed to get it to start after replacing the main fuse. But the ABS control was still running all the time. I took it to a guy who has an automotive electrical shop. He swapped a used computer in and that solved most of the problems but still the ABS control is running constantly and the signal lights don't work. I bought an ABS control from a Pick Your Part place and intend swapping it. The guy says that the problem with the signal lights is the inside fuse box. He says that the relay for the signal lights and the flashers is built into the fuse box. He seems like he knows what he's talking about but somehow I don't trust that. Any thoughts?
Scott
PS The whole episode is bizarre. Can't imagine anything that would've caused all this. The electrical guy also baffled but sYs my friend must have crossed the battery terminals. I don't think so but ...

Re: Crazy electrical issues
Battery terminal cross should only blow the main fuse, not the system fuses, but check those to. All systems should be protected by fuses.
make sure to check both fuse boxes.
also you may need to reset the antitheft system. I think there is an antitheft reset video on youtube.
