Loose strut rod nut

Hello, I have a 2008 Honda Civic LX automatic sedan. A few years ago, I installed new KYB front strut assemblies (SR4241 and SR4242). I torqued everything to spec. A few months later, I noticed some clunking on the driver's side. I reached out to KYB, and was told to tighten the strut rod nut. I was able to tighten the strut rod nut, and it helped. Over the last few weeks, I have had noticeable clunking on the driver’s side, and it looks like the strut rod nut is loose again. In fact, it is now off-centered on the upper mount (see photos). My passenger side has not had any issues, and the strut rod is still centered on the mount. Unfortunately, because the driver’s side strut rod is no longer centered in the mount, I can't get a socket around the nut to tighten it.

Does anyone have any tips on fixing this? I was thinking maybe I could lift the car, loosen the three mounting bolts and maybe shift it so it’s centered. Or am I screwed? Is it bent? I’ll need to get a pass-through socket set probably. I’m also afraid that the allen wrench hole might be a little stripped 🤦🏼‍♂️.

Thanks in advance!

Re: Loose strut rod nut

I removed part of the cowl to have a better view…

It seems the strut rod nut often comes loose on these KYB strut assemblies.
