Exclamation Damn strut problem

Ok, had a bad night with my front passenger strut, the top nut was a bitch to get loose and somehow I rounded out the allen head bolt, so now i think im screwed. I also compressed the spring some on one side and about 5 ball bearings fell out of the top strut mount, why are these in there and would it be ok to still use it?? Any suggestions on how to get this thing apart?? The driver's side loosened up just fine, no problems there.

Re: Damn strut problem

put the strut back in the car and loosen the bolt that way.

You will need a new upper bearing which you will have to order from majestic honda.

It was in the car when the allen head stripped out, i ended up sawzalling it off to get the bumpstop boot and i have a new upper mount coming in tomorrow at advance auto, went the nearest honda dealer and they actually gave me a new nut for the the one i had to saw off. Hopefully i wont have anymore problems.

Thanks man, I went out earlier and got the drivers side done in about 30 mins so it was pretty easy to do, hopefully I can get that new mount tomorrow and then get the rears done as well. I got to the top of rear struts in the trunk and there is corrosion on the top of the strut bolts, so hopefully i dont have any problems with them.

Re: Damn strut problem

Little update. I finished up my lowering project last Tuesday. Turned out to be a little bit of pain in the ***. Finally got a new upper strut bearing for the front passenger side on Monday, got it all put back together and realized I forgot the bumpstop/dustboot, lol, so I had to take it back out and redo it. Then the passenger rear went fine, was easy for the most part, a lot easier to get it out and back in with the help of a friend pushing down on the control arm. Then I got to the driver's rear strut, the damn bottom bolt would not break loose, tried everything. My friend brought over about a 500 dollar impact gun and it didnt touch it. Luckily we got in touch with his friend that has a lift in his barn and got it up on that, we ended up using about a 3 ft piece of pipe as a breaker bar to break it loose. We did try the same thing at my house but with it only a foot off the ground it was hard to get any movement. I'm pretty happy with the amount it dropped, a lot lower than I expected actually.
