front upper strut
hey guys, i was installing a front upper strut bar today on my 98 prelude and yeah well i encountered a problem. On my strut towers, i have 3 bolts, that form the shape of a triangle whereas some of you guys with civics have 2, i think. Well when i was taking off the 3 bolts, i dropped one of them and heard it clank around a little like it hit some stuff and kept falling, well then it stopped and i looked on the ground, wasnt there.........look in the engine bay around where i think i dropped it, wasnt there. So now im stuck with the strut bar still lying in the garage and i have 2 bolts instead of the 3 im supposed to on one of my strut towers. Can someone please tell me how safe this is to drive now without the 3rd bolt? Is it something i need to worry about and go to the hardware store right this second? Thanks for all the help! ~Chris

we have 3 too, i would say its worth going out and getting it this second.. dont want to take chances... keep in mind, thats basically what supports your whole cars weight... you might end up bending the metal frame there or those 2 other bolts might even snap... dont be lazy and go get it

Yea, you better fix that up super fast, your wheel might come right off the hub if you drive too fast without that nut.
But really, yea, get it fixed, but i dont think your life is going to be threatened. Put the strut bar back on and use the 5 nuts you have now. that would sorta help i would assume to keep the tension distributed around if missing the one nut is going to throw things off that much.
