Steering too much hard to turn. Can't even move the vehicle properly
Hi all,
I am from India, I have a Honda Civic 2008, bought it as an used vehicle in the month of April. It was running well, although slight glitch was found in the power steering. My mechanic told that the power steering pump is the problem and if we replace it the problem will be solved . I also bought an used power steering pump from the market. But due to the non availability of mechanic, it was not installed as soon as i bought. We were running the car as usual, day by day what I felt was, while turning the steering left, it was fine, but when turning right I felt a bit of tight at certain point. after crossing the point it was fine. We thought the pump is getting more damaged .
But one day I went for a drive about 30 km , it was running well and good, when I returned home ,while parking I found the steering was completely tight (as if the engine is off). Then I thought that the life of the old pump has completed and I called my mechanic and replaced it with the one I got from market. After completing installation , when we rested the car in ground from jack and started the engine, the tight was felt. .
When the engine is running the power steering fluid starts to foam in the reservoir. certain noise is also heared when trying to turn the steering .
Please help me with this issue.
Re: Steering too much hard to turn. Can't even move the vehicle properly
I would guess a leak between the pump and reservoir. If the pump starts sucking air the fluid will become aerated, it will begin foaming and become ineffective. If there is a leak, fix it. Then the fluid needs completely flushed and replaced.
Re: Steering too much hard to turn. Can't even move the vehicle properly
When the fluid becomes aerated it is not effective, steering assist is lost. The last vehicle I had that did something like this I had to completely flush the fluid 2-3 times before it stopped bubbling out the reservoir.

Thanks brother,
If I flush it completely and replace it with new fluid, will the steering become normal. Please watch the attached video.
Steering is this much tight.
