2015 CVT oil volume

I changed the oil in my 2015 civic with the cvt. Manual says 3.6 quarts of hcf-2. When I added oil until it overflowed the check port. Then ran it through the gears and added more oil. I added 4 whole quarts but never got it to come out the check hole again?

any thoughts on why it’s taking more than the published amount?

Are you checking with the car level?

Re: 2015 CVT oil volume

Colin42 made a good point, if your car is not on a leveled place, the amount of oil in the system will not be that much accurate (normally, it is not). To help avoid it (a bit), I just leave all the old oil, including the one from the filter, fall in the oil drain bucket, and then move it to a different bottle (ex.: Tea jugs), where I can ready the amount I need to refill it (if it was good before the change, should be near the same level after). I use the amount from the manual just as a reference to buy the new Qts (4 if I remember - better having a little more for an emergency, than less missing). Remember, a lot of people drain and replace the old oil with the car unleveled while in the jack or jack stands, and that is enough to make a difference. I also like to fill the new filter with clean oil before put it in (in the Civic it is easy since the filter goes almost straight vertical) .

I had the car level on Jack stands

How do I access the transmission filter?

Re: 2015 CVT oil volume

There are many videos on YouTube about changing the Transmission Filter. I am actually going to do it soon. The videos are really well explained, but I would watch 2 or 3 different ones to get different perspectives. Good luck
