It's inside the case.... Be a bit of a job to do it.
Inside the trans case? If thats what you mean then no, its somewhere below the airbox.

plus always use honda fluid.
Just like the lifetime fuel filter that they put in the tank now? Sheesh.
Only use hondas fluid? You mean strictly honda dw1? If thats the case then my car is screwed dude. I bought mine with 24k on it and it now has 83k. I'v done 4 trans fluid drain+fills with castrol import. When will it blow up?
Maybe it will be lucky like my 02 which I owned from 110k until trading it in at 199k? All I used for that car was castrol as well. Trans was fine. I still have the maintenance records on that as well if you'd like me to tell you how many times I didnt use dw1.
Hopefully your fine 😁, before I swapped to manual I used Total G3 atf in my 2002, worked fine.
But really you shouldn't mess around with atf, because there are many variables which could result in issues.
-metals used in transmission
-viscosity profile across heat range
-seal compatibility
-oil film requirements
-detergent ability to remove deposits
-warranty approval
ATF is not as simple as MTF
mtf you only really look at viscosity and GL4 or GL5 requirements.
Its been a long time since I logged in figured I would update. I changed the filter some months ago. Its not a bad job if youre patient. I have seen some requests in other posts wondering what the inside of these filters look like. So I hacked this one I took off.
I thought the same, but then again I haven't dicked around with 9thgen engines. Looks like it is. #5 on the diagram is the AT filter. P/N 25430-PLR-003 for you folks looking at this in the future
Yeah its factory. I should of took a pic before hacking it. I thought of it after the fact.
The replacement looked exactly the same although not from honda. Got one from rock auto. Ill put a new one in every other fluid change or whatever. IDK yet.
There is no maintenance interval according to Honda so I guess we call it "lifetime" But then again there are vehicles out there who the manufacturer claims trans fluid is "lifetime" I think its more like they only expect the trans to last a certain number of miles. Point is use your own mechanical intuition and do what you want.
On my car its an easy job. I wanna see how many miles I can get out of the car so IMO it will help change the filter vs not changing the "lifetime"
