Whining sound

I have a Whining sound on my Civic 2012 when I press and release the throttle in low gears and when idling. The engine sounds and runs great, other than a whining sound. I just had the tensioner replaced, and the whining went, and now, a few days later, it is back the same as before. Any ideas, please. Could it be the PVC valve?

Re: Whining sound

dying cat sounding whine (akin to supercharger whine) or more like a squealing sound?

Also, MT or AT?

Re: Whining sound

I would say dying cat sounding whine lol The garage got rid of it for a few days but its back, he said everything else looked and felt ok. The tensioner bearings were not good, as he had shown me, so he replaced.

Re: Whining sound

I tend to attribute "dying cat" whine sounds to transmission moreso than engine. Does it happen in neutral?

Re: Whining sound

Yes, in neutral too, and when driving in a low gear, slowing down and idling, I can notice the most. Thanks for the reply.

Re: Whining sound

It's MT, It is strange that after the tensioner had been changed, it was barely visible for a few days, and now it's back. Leads me to think it's somewhere in that area.
