Crackling sound from gas pedal when flooring car

Hey everyone,

I've got a 2001 Civic EX Coupe. 43k miles on it. No mods, running Castrol syntec 5w20, with everything stock, following the regular maintenance schedule.

Just a few days ago I started to notice this really weird, uncomforting sound when I floor the car (which is multiple times a day).

When the accelerator is all the way down, it makes a crackling sound for a split second or two. Under a second total, but it does it for every gear. If I put the car into 5th at low speeds, and then floor it, it still makes the sound.

The sound is like a crackling/rattling sound almost. Imagine the sound of two electrified wires touching each other -- it's like the sound of arching.

Anyone know what this could be? Could it be something with the throttle cable?

Bit of an update (and a bump)... As the temperature around here has gone down, the sound seems to have disappeared. Not quite sure why, but I'm going to blame global warming.

Lol, it may just be something physically touching, or the cable. Don't worry unless it causes problems.
