Crackling sound from gas pedal when flooring car
Hey everyone,
I've got a 2001 Civic EX Coupe. 43k miles on it. No mods, running Castrol syntec 5w20, with everything stock, following the regular maintenance schedule.
Just a few days ago I started to notice this really weird, uncomforting sound when I floor the car (which is multiple times a day).
When the accelerator is all the way down, it makes a crackling sound for a split second or two. Under a second total, but it does it for every gear. If I put the car into 5th at low speeds, and then floor it, it still makes the sound.
The sound is like a crackling/rattling sound almost. Imagine the sound of two electrified wires touching each other -- it's like the sound of arching.
Anyone know what this could be? Could it be something with the throttle cable?
