tapped hole crooked into block
tapped hole crooked into block
So, short story is, I let a friend help me work on my car and he ended up cross-threading the bolt that holds on the belt tensioner (8mm socket head cap bolt). And today was the day I decided to fix it (or at least try), and I was able to successfully drill out the hole and get the counterbore set flat, but once I had to insert the tap, my tap wrench wouldn't fit so I went to use an adjustable wrench and even though I was using the guide I still managed to tap crooked.
So I wanted to ask, what do I do now? Normally I would imagine you would have to now drill out the crooked threads and use a bigger thread repair kit, but if I were to do that then the bolt would no longer fit to hold the tensioner (right?).
Thanks.
