Good morning! New member here! Just bought this car. 09 SI Coupe - 165K miles - I'm losing coolant internally and have milky oil. I consider the coolant loss to be a lot. Like 3/4 gallon in 100 miles of spirited driving. I pressurized the cooling system to 20 psi and can hear coolant trickling into the oil pan.
Have any other users found sources of coolant getting into the oil that weren't the head gasket?
I tore the head off last night hoping it would appear obvious that the head gasket was the source of this internal leak. Here are pics. I'm was hoping for more obvious visible indicators. The only thing I see that is suspicious is the coloration of the exaust valves. One set is redish - the other 3 sets are whiteish.
Any help or opinions or thoughts are greatly appreciated. I don't want to put this back together with new gaskets and still have the same problems. Where else could coolant cross over?
Honestly, I have never heard of any K series engine having oil/coolant mix. I have done a few headgaskets on older Civics where I could not tell where it was bad.
The other place I think it could easily happen is the stock oil cooler. The big thing that's between the oil filter and the engine block. Coolant is piped in to help regulate the oil temperature that passes through.
