what weird precautions do you take when deatiling?

just wondering what some of you do to prepare for washing/waxing your cars? or maybe what precautions you take?

me? i usually take a good shower if i've been out. i deep clean my hands and fingernails. i wil avoid any contant that will soil my hands. you have to keep clean hands when washing/waxing a car. sometimes it's inevitable if you touch that hose that's been on the floor or somethin' but i try my best to keep any residue of sediment gathering up on my hands while washing. i usually makes sure all my equipment is clean too. i would say that's what i am most peevish about.

any weird quirks you guys get into when it comes to detailing?

anyone have exclusive advice on keeping your hands free of dirt for detailing?

sorry i know my cars not a viper.... but hell, i try to care for my paint. maybe i'm just the oddball, but i know couple of you are right up my alley near oddball-ville

You can wear surgical gloves if you are worried about getting the car dirty. I worry about getting wax underneath my nails if anything. Looks gross.

I sometimes use masking take around black plastic trims, so the wax doesn't get inside the cracks.

I got another...

I detail the inside of the car with my shoes off in my socks. That way I don't track any dirt or water inside and I can hit every crevice of the inside because I have maximum maneuverability.

I think I might have more bizzare quirks for detailing cars. I'll let you know if I have anymore.

Nick, that is a wierd one. Arent you worried about all the lint that your socks leave in the interior??? Or all the damage that your feet are getting from the chemicals that you are using on the interior?

I dont have any wierd quirks...I just gotta make sure I am wearing comfortable clothes when detailing....Like Sweat PAnts and an old t shirt....but thats not wierd. Sorry that im so boring lol.

Yeah but I still dont see how you dont mess up your feet from the chemicals you are using, or leave lint ***** in the carpet or on the fabric. My trick is that I do the rear window first, and then I shampoo the interior. I have no need to get into the rear of the car, there for I have no need to just wear socks and no sneakers while cleaning the interior

when i do the interior, i usually stick my feet outside and just sit in the seats. i'm about 5'11 or so, so i can move around efficiently. if i need to do something on one side of the interior, i just walk around the car and hop in the seat with my feet on the floor outside the car.

plus, i have pretty long arms.
