Im looking to see what can be done about the shortness of my gears and getting lower rpm’s and (slightly) better gas mileage in 5th @70mph

Which I’m okay with, but I thought I heard something about swapping 5th gear

I'm pretty sure the HX has the longest 5th gear but the difference is so small it's unnoticeable. 100% not worth the effort.

Just got the specs if you're interested.

LX 5th gear is 0.711

HX 5th gear is 0.710

For reference as to what this means, it's how many (in this case, 0.710 and 0.711) rotations of the driveshaft to one rotation of the front wheel. As you can see, there is almost no difference.

EM2 (EX model) have the shortest gearing

You can swap in an ex trans and get shorter gearing for quicker acceleration, change the clutch while you're in there

HX and LX have the same 5th gear but the HX has a significantly longer final drive. At 70 mph the LX would be around 2850 RPM, the HX would be around 2200.

Keep in mind this will make acceleration slower. You wouldn't need to shift into third gear until 90 mph.

Oh wow. Okay. HX is more for comfort then, I guess.

I went online and found a transmission parts store and almost found the solution. Will an Integra 5th gear fit in my LX tranny? Because when shopping on that website I found MY LX 5th GEAR for SLW, but it also said fits 3rd or 4th gear for Integra.

I could be confused but it sounds like Integra 5th gear is a longer drive. Unless it just isn’t compatible.
