Rebuilding D17a2, reliable hp expectations?
Rebuilding D17a2, reliable hp expectations?
So i’ve been goin thru it with my 03 civic (192k miles) and am gonna try n rebuild, at least piston rings, valves, main/rod bearing, timing, water pump, head gasket, and all the small other things. i’ve had her as a daily driver for 2 years (other than the past month n a half cus this) and want to keep her that way and reliable but with a little more power. i’m just kinda trying to find the line of what stock internals vs forged can take and if it’s worth the upgrade. ive seen you can get more or less 200 hp reliably with stock and a good amount of work and money. i have an automatic rn and plan to swap a manual in the hopefully near future. yes yes ik k swap is better in every way but as long as the block is good (seems to be) i wanna rebuild it. i’ve seen barely any d17 builds talking about what they’ve done, i’m just curious with everyone’s experience in modding theirs. i’m dying to drive lol so i wanna rebuild it now and hopefully add more mods afterwards. thank you for any any advice
