Where do I find...
Where do I find...
Where do I find sleeves for a d17a2 block? i've looked everywhere and still haven't found them for any D-series engine. also what bore pistons do I need with said sleeves and if I get a cometics head gasket what bore should that be? I feel like an idiot...
Also I have decided to get a dezod turbo kit, not sure if I should get the one that comes with pistons and rods though...any suggestions?
thanks in advance

75mm for a stock bore.
Depends on your goals. The higher kits come more "bolt on" with good engine internals.
Re: Where do I find...
Wouldn't lbs of boost be a more relevant number to use as to when you sleeve or not? I don't know what the actual number is, but I am pretty sure it's the better number to go by. Not trying to be a dick or smart *** so please don't take it that way. Its just better to give proper info, and if I am wrong please tell me, we are all here to learn.

Re: Where do I find...
the engine can handle 32lbs of boost on stock sleeves that's about 500hp on a d17. hit 489hp on 30 lbs of boost on andys car saw the boost gauge go to 32 at one point on another pull
average machine shop will charge about $250 per sleeve and that is not including the cost of the sleeves. So your looking at already over a thousand dollars. New engine is between 150 and 350 dollars. If it manages to blow up with out sleeves there is a pretty good chance that the sleeves would not have saved you.
If you have a bad tune and your engine detonates enough, sleeves will not stop a rod from going through the side of the block.
Sleeves do not make an Engine Bullet Proof!!! (or bomb proof)
It is just not worth the money it's cheaper just to get a new motor and rebuild besides even with an LSD anything over 20 lbs of boost isn't that streetable torque steer is just horrific

Re: Where do I find...
uhh no... thats what was said above... a darton sleeve will NOT stop a rod from blowing through the side of the engine. the only reason sleeves are really needed in any engine is that the engine makes more horse power than the stock sleeve can handle and the stock sleeve will actually fail. problem with our engine is, the stock sleeves are pretty strong and no one has hit enough hp to need sleeves. but like it was also stated, its all in the tune. nothing will save an engine from detonating under a crappy tune.
