A3 with A2 bottom end?
A3 with A2 bottom end?
Forgive me if this has already been asked/gone over a million times..I did try to research this but havent found much about this. I found an 03 base RSX automatic in the junkyard today, and I thought about grabbing the engine( I assume K20A3? thought I took a pic of the VIN but must not have) for $150 bones (100 actually, but 50$ core and I dont have one, so 150 XD ) ..Its been sitting without a valve cover but doesnt look too bad..but my question is: If I'm going to rebuild the thing anyway, would A2 internals work in this block? The price is right, for sure, so I dont mind throwing money at it to get it up to snuff with an A2 if its doable. Anyone have any insight? I've seen some A2 heads around on craigslist for a fair price lately as well .. (was going to probably rebuild whatever K engine I get for my swap anyway)
Is it worth grabbing? Price is right, but no intake and no accessories (AC/PS/Alt all gone, though I'd probably get new/reman)
Also, hi everyone! new to the forums here, but have been lurking for a while, reading and researching for my swap project

Re: A3 with A2 bottom end?
My car is an 01 EM2 that I will be putting it in, doing a Kswap. I want to put an A2 in, but this engine is hard to pass up if I can build the bottom end and put an A2 head on it
Re: A3 with A2 bottom end?
From what I've found (actually since I posted this question) on Kseries.Com is that the blocks are nearly identical minus the oil squirters (which can be installed, or if you have forged pistons you don' need them)..the bore and stroke are the same with the Pistons being where the compression difference comes from ..
I think I've found the answer to my own questions lol but if anyone has anything to add/correct, I'm all ears..

Re: A3 with A2 bottom end?
sadly we don't have many (none?) versed in K-series here...
Sorry, I asked because the original EX model is also an A2, but D17A2, so got confused.
for the engine codes/car/model, you can find them here:

K20A3 Acura RSX 2001+

Re: A3 with A2 bottom end?
That helps alot, thank you! So pretty much any RSX that isnt a Type S is an A3 ..cool!, thank you! As I said, I found that post on Kseries.com right after I posted this here, and kinda answered my own question haha
Re: A3 with A2 bottom end?
If you're going to be doing a K swap I highly recommend finding a RSX or Si you can use as a donor car. I pulled so many parts off my donor while doing my swap, it would've been so much more expensive to buy everything separately.
