Water leak inside the car

A few days ago I was outside vacuuming the inside of my 03 LX and noticed the carpet was wet on the passenger side from front to the back. In a panic I quickly rerouted my amplifier to the drivers side and started checking whether stripping around the doors and they all checked out perfectly. But while I was fighting my amp wiring that runs behind the glove box and under the carpet I noticed that where the main wiring harness routes into a hole in the floor the rubber boot around it is cracked and letting outside water in, both inside and the outside rubber boots are cracked. What’s the best way to fix it without having to pull the wiring harness out?

I considered RTV but it’s missing a good half an inch of the rubber boot on the inside of the car, will it still seal the hole and the part where the boot looks like it dry rotted and broke?

It’s more likely plugging the “holes” will result in making a pool in your passenger side vs keeping it drier.

You literally would need to drive in flooded water above the floor boards before any significant amount of water would enter at those points.

Most common culprits, sunroof drains and gasket, clogged A/C drain, door gasket, failed body seam sealer around cowl/fender/firewall area.

Don’t be afraid to add bottle of UV dye into couple gallons of water and start doing “test” pours in sections give it a hour then use a darkened area and a UV light to see any signs.

Personally I would check the Sunroof first, then A/C drain ( using a length of tubing, you should be able to blow freely into the drain) then splash UV test water in sections.

Re: Water leak inside the car

I noticed it when I was flushing my heater core and I had opened the door and moved the carpet back to see if it was leaking from the core itself or what my issue was, turned out to be a head gasket. But the water that i accidentally got all over the firewall was entering the car through the rubber boot in the floor board.
Notes: I don’t have a sunroof, and I no longer have the inner fender splash guard because it had gotten shredded.

So definately conspired replace that, as noted the seam sealer and gaskets are way past their prime, no reason to expose them to more water than designed for.

Which rubber boot in floor board? I'm chasing a passenger side leak that I've yet to source. Have removed the fender and individually hit it with water in all gaps/holes I can find and so far nothing. Let it sit in the rain and it leaks. Wearing me out! Used almost a tube of seam sealer everywhere I can imagine it could leak.
