Rough ride after suspension rebuild
Rough ride after suspension rebuild
Late to the party as usual.......
2001 Honda Civic LX that I eventually got from family members (Grandmother to my father, and now to me).
I just about completely redid suspension (Front, everything except Steering rack and inner tie rod, still has original sway bar), rear everything but rear lower control arms.
It handles MUCH better as it came to me with broken sway bar links (weren't even attached!), Control arm bushings were shot (bought loaded control arms and replaced the whole thing, both sides).
Ride: It does good except for on choppy roads (especially at high speeds)........gets to bouncing some. I had Amazon quick struts (Oredy) and didn't like them......was told that Monroe Quick struts were better...........now I don't know about that as still a little bouncy. Hindsight, should have kept original springs and got new inserts and strut mounts.
Question: When I loaded the suspension when putting the torqueing the new control arms........I didn't know how much load to put on the suspension. I tried to look for original center wheel hub to top of wheel arch measurement but I could not find it (nor ground to wheel arch). Does any body know original ride height for 2001 Honda Civic LX?
Thanks,
Stu

Re: solved: Ride still rough, harsh and bouncy after strut/shocks replaced
Both of those are crap. Should use kyb, you can get them on rockauto. For torquing the bolts can either jack the control arm until the car starts to lift of the jack stand, or have the jack stands under the control arms and the suspension will stay compressed
