Grinding/Whining noises after coilover installation
I just purchased a 2002 Civic DX with 133,000 miles on it. The Civic came with old Maxpeedingrod coilovers. The front passenger side coilover was definitely damaged as I could hear a noticeable coil/spring "snap" sound when making right turns. I do not know how long this set of coilovers were on the Civic. I installed Rev9 coilovers myself and took it in for an alignment. Driving it back from the shop, I noticed a dullish whining noise coming from somewhere in the engine bay. It sounds a little like the noise you hear from power steering I guess. It might be coming from something around the drive belt. Also, when I was backing into my garage, I heard some light grinding noises as well when turning at low speed. I didn't really noticed any of the "clunking" noise that seems to be common when installing new coilovers however. So that's good I guess. Any tips for what might be causing these noises? A quick google search suggests the wheel bearings potentially. So would that mean that the newer/stiffer coilovers are exerting more downward pressure on the worn wheel bearings, thus causing the grinding noise? I'm pretty sure they are original wheel bearings.
In the picture I attached, it sounds like the noise is coming from somewhere between to the two yellow arrows.

Re: Grinding/Whining noises after coilover installation
Either something is rubbing on the suspension, or coincidentally something in the the belt drive started to make noise. Take it back to the alignment shop and let them check over their work.
