Coilover Noise
i have skunk2 coilover and my front was making poping noise, not squeaking noise, clanking noise, well i jack up and my car and figure what was wrong. the thread ring wasnt stable, try to put your thread ring over the o-ring if not just use electrical tape and the tape it above it, so my thread ring wont move. and and my struts was align right. basically it was my thread ring that was makin those noise cuz it was moving around. i could tell cuz my srping was scrape up from it moving.
The sleeve should NOT move for any reason AT ALL. I was just adjusting my coilovers last night in the fronts and the sleeve should not move up and down. It should stay still in one place. If it moves, your coilovers were probably installed incorrectly or you have the wrong sized sleeve for your strut, and I think your coilovers were just installed wrong. If I could see it for myself, it would be easier to tell.
If the sleeve is not staying still you could probably damage something and it sounds like the weight of the car could add more pressure to the coilover parts which is bad. You don't want anything to break. Did you check the sleeves on both sides to see if they were different?
After raising the car, the only thing that should be able to move is the coil spring and the ring on top of the spring. I would definitely get that fixed.
