Question Steering knuckle 2001-2 vs 2003-5

Hello,

I realized I accidentally purchased 51215-S5A-J30 instead of 51215-S5A-J10 for my 2002 civic ex. Does anyone know if there are any major differences between the two, or will either be compatible? they look to be about the same, but I guess i'll see whenever it comes in. Just wondering if I should bother ordering a J10 in case. One seller on ebay lists 51215-S5A-J10, 51215-S5A-J30, and 51215-S6D-G10 as the OE numbers for their part. I hope someone is able to give me insight - My car has been up on a lift for days now and I miss it.

Re: Steering knuckle 2001-2 vs 2003-5

crash bolts (shock to knuckle) are 14mm in the 01-02, 16mm in 03-05.
the shock also higher diameter in the newer models. Should fit?
There are reducing washers to use the 14mm in the 16mm. Getting the 16mm bolts would require newer shocks? (Haven't checked that)

I'm assuming the crash bolts are the two big bolts? (the ones that broke off and made me buy the new one, probably). but besides the bolt, everything else should be the same? I can probably get my hands on some reducing washers easily. Thank you for the input, I'm glad someone had an answer!

also thanks jannys for moving my post - Should have realized this would go under suspension.

the ones connecting the knuckle to the shock, yes

items 12 and 14

https://www.bkhondaparts.com/v-2002-...shock-absorber

looks like using current shocks, the bolts will not pass on shock holes, so either reducing washers or change shocks

The shocks have 14mm hole, and the knuckle has 16mm hole, so I don't need these, I need a spacer for inside the knuckle yes?

Alternatively, use a 5/8" or 16mm bit to drill out the holes in the strut. Then just install proper 16mm bolts.

This is what I'd do.
