70mph noise

ok, heres the deal. i just had kyb agxs and a prokit installed along with 19 inch konigs and pirelli p zeros. i had a wheel bearing replaced today, and now i have this weird noise when i get right around 70mph. it kind of sounds like an annoying road noise, kind of like something is hitting something else under the front of the car. the tranny has been rebuilt, and i noticed the noise mostly when i let off the throttle around 70. do you guys think it might be a vibration from the exhaust? i cant figure out why it only does it around 70 mph. thanks for the help guys.

if its the factory exhuast, it shouldnt vibrate. if its an aftermarket, they all do. however, the biggest vibration is when you drive into a fairly thick water puddle with an aftermarket exahust, then you could feel the vibration like its comming underneath.

does the noise come from underneath? engine bay? outside by the wheels? where

19" konigs.... did they install the centric rings with those tires? Most rims need a ring on the inside where the hubs meets the rim because the civic knuckle is so small. Do you get any vibrations or anything, what about when you brkae anything happen?

hubcentric rings missing would cause that.

yeah, it starts off like that, then it gets worse as time goes on, basically the rims starts wiggling the lug nuts loose. I had the same thing happen to me, started as a small viberation at higher speeds then it became a vibration at braking and then it got really bad, and I took it in and that was it. You can call Konig with the model number of your rims and ask them what the internal hub diameter is and if you need rings to fit your civic (mention the year of your civic too). I don't remember the diameter you are suppose to have but you can probably search for hub rings and find it.

Well, I'm not sure that's the problem you are having, but it's a problem if you are suppose to have them and you don't.

hmmm... well i got the rings put on today, and it still does it right around 70mph. its definetly a vibration. it stops as soon as i put it in neutral, but i did notice it a little as i was going around a corner at low speed. im wondering if somehow its always vibrating, just gets worse above 70mph. I have the dc sports full catback, and im wondering if a mount might have fell off. i also noticed that what i believe is my front strut bar is touching the exhaust. maybe that could cause it? also, one of my intercooler pipes is touching the frame in the front of the car, that may be it too. it feels like is vibrating right under my feet. i also just had the tranny rebuilt, any possibility they might have reinstalled it wrong? any suggestions? is there any sort of heat proof pad i can put in between these parts?

where exactly is the vibration coming from, you say the floor is vibrating, but what about steering wheel, any of the pedals, feel the ebrake and see if it's vibrating.

you say it vibrates when you turn too, is this only in one direction or both? What about when you cut the wheel and turn in reverse?

its wierd, it randomly happens when im only driving forward. its not really any of the pedals, my girlfriend said she felt in in the footwell as well. the time is happened when i was taking a corner fast was only a sound, not really a vibration. it just sounds to me like something is rattling near the engine, but generally only above 70mph. i was just looking at the engine bay, do you think it could be that when they rebuilt my tranny, they didnt hook it up to the driveshaft right, causing it to vibrate like that?

get some thermotec wrap and put some where you think parts are rubbing. Could be exhaust, intercooler pipes, etc.

I know this is an older post . I have the exact same issue with my 2001 EX. There was never a definitive reason or fix . Happens at 72 and is not there at 80 but decelerating to 72 , it starts to rattle, I have the same symptoms as peimp had . Any replies would be greatly appreciated

Re: 70mph noise

to have that, you need to find out what state your car is...
All we can see are your words typed in our screens, you need to do some work to narrow down.
How many parts do you think your car have? Thousands.

I have a hissing noise in my engine bay, can you tell me what the issue is?

We're not there to look at the car. You need to do some investigating yourself. If you notice something that doesn't look/feel right post here and we can try to help figure out what's wrong

Re: 70mph noise

The middle exhaust pie that was fabbed for my exhaust repair , was hitting the floor pan at a 70 to 72 MPH. . The tech re bent it, and the noise disappeared . It sounded like it was coming from the passenger wheel well in front but it was further back .
