Re: Idle air control valve

I'll be honest, I don't know what you're asking here.

If the idle is fluctuating up and down it's likely a bad or stuck IACV. You can remove it and try to clean it, or just replace it. OEM is always recommended.

Re: Idle air control valve

So i change the idle air control valve and i noticed that its idling at 100 RPM and vibrates a little more than it should. I pull the main fuse, took it for a little drive to let the coolant get hot and let it idle for about 10 minutes in neutral with no lights or electronics on,not even the seat belt or park brake lights in the dash and then turn it off and back on. It still vibrates. What you think is the problem.? If air in the coolant will it vibrate n idle high?

so i got a OEM IACV from junkyard and installed it but the problem still remains the same so i removed it and took it apart and when i tried to spin the shine piece of metal that open and close, it was seized up and got stuck. I sprayed some Pb blaster and free it up and it was perfect again so i reinstalled it and start the car and the high idling stop so went for a drive ,after i return i let it idle for about 5 minutes with nothing on but while it was idling the steering started to vibrate again and the RPM was between 1000 and 900. Any suggestions?

Did you do an idle relearn after installing the different valve?

yup.i always do idle relearn whenever i change electrical parts and sensors..i blead the cooling system and sprayed carb cleaner around vacuum hoses and didn't find any change in engine idling either. Now i put back the after market IACV on it and it stuck at 1300 RPM but the steering not vibrates like it was before.its smooth as of the day the day it left the factory. In fact, the car not vibrates like it was yesterday and some days ago but it stuck at 1300 RPM. I ordered a IACV from the dealership. It will take about 5 days before i get it.i will leave a reply if things change after i install the OEM one. In the mean time, if you have any solutions please let me know.

Get your Barrett Floyd valve going right and maybe it will all fall into place. I know it did for me.

Re: Idle air control valve

Clean the throttle body and the entire butterfly (especially the edge/outer circumference). Did you clean the IACV gasket screen too?
When was the last intake and exhaust valves adjustment performed?
A smoke test is the best test for intake and exhaust leaks

Re: Idle air control valve

Isn't there some sort of a fast idle valve that in time loosens and you have to open it and carefully tighten the cap with a screwdriver, in which fixes the idle? Eric The Car Guy has a video on it. ETCG says you can adjust it while the car is running. There also might be air in the coolant.

Here's another video on the same subject.

My throttle body is very clean and IACV gasket is very clean to. I did a valve adjustment a week a week ago. 0.009 intake and 0.0010 exhaust. I think my problem is the IACV so i ordered one from the dealer and i should get it Wednesday Thursday. I will post an update if anything changes.

Re: Idle air control valve

Check your coolant. Run the car with the radiator cap open to make sure there isn't any air.

Hopefully, the new IACV will solve it. If not, it may end up being an ECU issue?

ok. So,i just call the dealer about my part and its there to puck up. My question is,when doing the idle relearn, how will i hear the fan comes on while in the car holding the gas pedal steady at 3000 RPM with the engine making so much noise.?

You're not supposed to be on the gas

the idle relearning process didn't said to old it steady at 3000 RPM Until the fan comes on 2 or 3 times and then let it idle for about 5 mines?

Re: Idle air control valve

Just let it idle with no accessories running until the fans cycle twice

ok..i will do a second idle relearn then.. Why when i press the gas pedal the RPM dont drop to normal like it should? It stays up for seconds before it drops.and I'm using the dealer IACV on it now. But even before the dealers parts it was the same problem..i turned out the idle screw on the throttle body now so its not vibrating like it was. It used to idle at about 1200 RPM and vibrates but its not anymore.

Re: Idle air control valve

Have you tried bleeding the coolant to make sure there's no air in the system? Pop off the cap, let it idle, top off with coolant if needed and see if the idle goes back to normal.

yeah bro i did bled the coolant thoroughly more than once .after i replace the IACV today, turn the heat on with the fan full blast, let it idle with the radiator cap off for about 1/2 an hour while squeezing the top radiator hose until theres no bubbles comes out of it..

OP: is it surging or just staying steady at 1200 rpm?

ok,so here is what going on with this car. It was surging before i change the IACV from aftermarket to dealership valve. Its not surging anymore but when in idle mode and i press the accelerator pedal, it would stay up for about 3 seconds then it goes down and and back up again and stay for a little and then goes back to normal idling which is 800 RPM.

IAT code P0113

I been seeing this code comes up for about 2 weeks now and i erased it and cleaned the sensor, installed it and it keep coming back so i replace the sensor from the parts store and the code still reappear and i realized that the car us burning gas too. I'm assuming is because of the sensor causing it to be burning gas. Could it be an open circuit somewhere there..?

try an ecu reset and idle relearn

so to reset the ECU is to remove the fuse or the disconnect the battery terminal?
if so,i did idle relearn a few times n its still reappear afterwards.i might just have an open circuit thst causing it.

Should be okay. After installing the new IACV it may have effected how the ECU processes the info so hopefully a reset/relearn coordinates both the iacv and ecu.
