Check your AC belt, refrigerant level, IAC valve and throttle body.

Hello everyone. I couldn't find adequate information to help me figure this out so here it goes... I have a 2003 Honda Civic with 223380 miles. I have an interesting situation.. .. so I replaced a failing alternator back in August last year with a brand new one from o'Reilly's. Then that brand new alternator went out up in my college in December, and I had to quickly swap it with a rebuilt alternator from o'Reillys (new ones weren't in stock) as well as recharge my battery that was only a year old with new terminals. So with this rebuilt alternator, the Battery light comes on at a hot idle for a brief second, car kinda shakes but only real slightly. Had the alternator tested but didnt seem to show anything. My friend says he thinks it can be a tuning issue and maybe not a alternator problem. I wanted to get an opinion on that; does anyone think I just have bad luck with alternators, or may I have an even greater issue such as tuning?

These cars don't like non OEM alternators, replace with a new OEM or used OEM from the junkyard

I wouldn't hesitate to order from RockAuto. Ordered tons of parts and never had any issues.

I'd still try a junkyard though if you are somewhat local to one.

Hey guys! Sorry to bump on an old topic. I have a Honda Civic VTI 1996 model and just got the IACV and TB cleaned. Turning the A/C and using it while driving has made the idle much better than before however this is where the problem is. As I have noticed when not using the A/C, driving it around and once I step on the clutch to either brake or change gear, the idle should and must go down to 1000/900 rpm, so it goes down but then it gets stuck at around 1200-1300 rpm then after 2 seconds goes down to 1000. This also happens when I am free wheeling or cruising (running the car on neutral and let it run on its own). What should I do to get it back to normal? Like after reving, it just drops instantly to normal rpm level which is 900 or 1000.
PS (Sorry for the foreign language)

Alright this isnt really an idle issue, but it kinda is. I just got my throttle body back on and havent had time to do the idle relearn. the idle is great, but when its in neutral and i press on the gas just the slightest bit it goes from idling at 1500 to revving at 3000. and then when you take off the gas, it kinda sounds like a vacuum leak idle and it quickly drops to 1500. Its hard to describe i think ill post a link to a video
