changing the ATF fluid...

Hey everyone...gonna have my transmission fluid on my 2003 Civic EX coupe changed..it's an automatic.....the dealer wants over 10.00/qt for the ATF fluid...I'll pay it if necessary..but does anyone advocate for aftermarket ATF fluid that is just as good but less expensive?? I will only use something that is equivalent to OEM...and only if it's considerably less money...
Thanks everyone...

Re: changing the ATF fluid...

When I bought my 2003 EX it had some aftermarket fluid in it. Shifted terribly. This forum suggested genuine ATF. Had to run it 400 miles and flush again before it ran properly. I was ready to give up or start swapping solenoids but the double change solved the issues. 30k later I switched it again with ATF. Another 15k and it’s still shifting fine. Topped it off maybe once.

TLDR: No.

It only takes like three quarts if I recall. What you gonna save, maybe five bucks? This is one genuine part I would not consider an alternative to. Happened to me in a Kia I had too, transmissions are temperamental enough without substitutes.
