Second the head gasket breached - common issue on these engines.

That doesn't mean it's ok. The heat stopped working which could mean you're low on coolant. Start with checking coolant level.

I added coolant to it but when I got back to my car the coolant reservoir cap was missing could that have something to do with the heating ?
update
I took the coolant out the reservoir since it was over full and. Now the heat it back on just doesn’t blow hard

Re: Car running slugish

Watch those coolant levels, probably a good idea to burp the system too. If the reservoir keeps gaining coolant you'll be getting another head gasket replacement soon.

Head gasket or you didn't bleed the coolant properly

okay update so I got the car running again and the heat going but I keep getting a coolant sensor code and the car goes sluggish around the 30 mph mark otherwise it’s running fine and it doesn’t happen all the time

Re: Car running slugish

What brand sensor did you use? These cars are very select with what works.

Also, with the head gasket, did a shop replace it or did you do it yourself?

Re: Car running slugish

Also, are the coolant temp sensors plugged in? Passenger side of engine, towards the front, very close to where the top radiator hose meets the engine. Both have to be unplugged when replacing the head gasket.

More symptoms of a breached head gasket so might be your problem.

I used a cheap eBay replacement

I did the head gasket on my own with the sand paper little by little

Re: Car running slugish

I would say that's your problem. The mating surface was most likely uneven (eye test is not a proper way of checking) and the sensor isn't working properly.

Yeah, I still don't think it's completely flat. Sandpaper isn't exactly a precise tool.

Re: Car running slugish

I agree with both of them but you should still test. You can try putting in an OEM sensor, even a used one from the junkyard. Then properly burp the coolant system and get fluid levels correct. If the reservoir keeps gaining while the radiator is losing it's almost certainly the head gasket.

Re: Car running slugish

I’m back and this time it’s throw a p2770 code and sluggish the previous code was resolved sort of because I found out the cap was falling off to the coolant reservoir causing coolant to evaporate. This time it’s saying the solenoid is no working when I replaced it with a new one and had the car working fine for a while there .

Re: Car running slugish

Coolant evaporates at an incredibly slow rate, that's not your issue. That cap is vented anyways (not sealed) so you could leave it off and not hurt anything.

Re: Car running slugish

Powertrain issue then if D light blinking. Check your ATF condition and level. Maybe a bad connection at a transmission harness?
