Help with 05 civic auto transmission issues and install

So long story short I had to replace my transmission on my 05 civic. I didn't put anything in neutral and I yanked out the shifter cable.. I went and bought a used transmission shifter cable and shifter. The problem that I'm having now is I can't line anything up. I try to put the transmission in neutral by hand than the shifter and cable as well as the range sensor but when I turn on the civic and shift it the shifter on the dash goes all over the place it doesn't mark it right. I'm stuck and need help. What should I do?

Did you buy a JDM trans or a normal one?
Put the trans in neutral and the shifter in neutral, there's adjustment in the cable to get everything lined up

I've done that. But for whatever reason it's still off. Could I have a bad cable?

Have you tried adjusting the cable? Are you sure it's routed properly?

You should be able to make adjustments on the interior end

That silver part that's bolted to the shifter should be threaded so you can adjust the length of the cable

Re: Help with 05 civic auto transmission issues and install

Go download the service manual on the last page here:

https://www.civicforums.com/forums/1...ispreloading=1

Starting on page 1115 it has all the information on how to remove, install, and adjust the cable. It's a little more involved than what I was thinking.
