2003 Civic EX won’t go out of park

Hello! I have a 2003 Civic EX that I was driving yesterday. When I went to get off the highway, I noticed the car shifted down a little early and didn’t seem to up shift. When I got to a light I tried putting it in park and restarting the car but when I turned it back on I couldn’t get it out of park. Eventually I figured out that if I used the shift release with the car on I could get it into drive but it would come out of 1st gear (presumably trying to upshift) if I went above like 15MPH until the car slows down. I eventually got it to an auto repair place (not sure if I trust them yet but didn’t want to do more damage) and they’re looking at it but I was curious if anyone here had any ideas. Online I’ve seen a few things it could maybe be such as the shift lock solenoid or even just a fuse but I don’t know if that explains it not upshifting after I get it back into drive. The repair place seems to think it’s electrical and they’re going to get their electrical guy to come look at it tomorrow. Any ideas what y’all think it could be? Im just praying it’s not the transmission itself. Thanks!

Hey there buddy, I'm not too sure if this will be solution for your issue, but I'm pretty sure the reason why you couldn't move the shifter from Park was due to a Blown Fuse, the one that goes on the claxon (Yeah, it sounds weird i know) If you honk and no sound comes from your car, your vehicle should not be able to move from Park, this is a security measurement implemented in this model to avoid going at high speeds in the city, without a claxon working properly...
