First kill for the winter car :)
I had just left the honda dealer after checking out the status of my clutch and drivetrain/differential. (getting TSB54 done... click here for thread)
While waiting at a light, a younger guy in a Ford Focus ZX3 pulled up next to me. He was real ancy at the light, and had kinda given me a look. Wasn't sure if he'd go or not, but thought I was close enough to break in, I'd give it a shot. (I've got almost 500 miles on already, as I've been driving it constantly all over the place. )He was creeping, waiting for the light, so I creeped up and got a little more even with him.
At this point, he looked over and gave me a WTF look. I assume this is the same look he sees when his girlfriend drops his pants, and wonders where the package is.
With this the light turns, and he starts to go. Not clutch dump go, but he just goes. Anticipating this, I also take off. 1st gear we are about even, but I pull toward the top just a bit. Now this is the part that amazes me.
He goes to shift, and I swear to god, took 3 seconds to get the whole heel-toe, 1-2 shift thing. I easily gained a lot of ground, went into 2nd, and kept going. It seemed like I was still pulling, but not much. However, here comes his 2-3 shift.
Yup same thing... enough time between his 2-3 shift to transpose the 1812 overture for the accordion. Yup, gained lots more ground.
I shut down again, and as he goes by, he paces next to me. What I thought was at first him reaching down for a cigarette and lighter, was actually him downshifting. And then he took off. I laughed once more as he shifted once more, and I watched his car shift weight back and forth, as he again shifted. This guy is the slowest stick shift driver I've ever seen.
Anyways, enough about that. Mark one up for the new winter car. 2003 Honda Civic DX.

Good one. Last night some kid in a Thunderbird (i'd say around a 94) tried to race me. It was him and two fat kids in the car. I know that car puts out like over 200hp but whatever. I figured I'd give it a shot since I haven't really gotten on the gas yet... just to see what the civic could do. So were both off. His whole front end lifts up and flys by for a sec, then I shifted into second around 6,600-6,700 and flew by... then he started to catch up again and it was like that the whole way to the next light. But end of story: I won and it was my first kill with my civic. Then I got all upset because I realized that I just devirginized my car. So, I guess that that guy either can't drive or the weight in his car was too much... but either way it was his idea to race not mine.

S2000man01 - Nice kill! I've raced someone before who actually stalled their car during the upshift... I was like WTF??? And how about those countless times people stall it off the line. Hillarious!
ok, i missed the part about you using your winter car, but as i was reading it, i was like damn, you should have been killin his @ss in that s2000. But then i saw the 2003 Civic Dx at the bottom. Good kill though

the ZX3's although lighter and have a more pwerful engine are slower than the civics...it's sad...Best I've seen one run at the track with bolt-ons was a 17.3
