Clutch and shifting problems after replacing axle seals.
Clutch and shifting problems after replacing axle seals.
Hey, so I put my car up on a lift the other day to change out my axle seals because I had a transmission leak near one of the seals. Seals went in alright, but the next day, the clutch was grabbing at gears when it was fully pressed to the floor. It usually starts grabbing at 50% on the spectrum range of the pedal. I also had to pull and push really hard to get the gears into place when I was driving. It was worse when getting it into first and reverse when the car was parked. It's almost like the clutch isn't even there! The clutch seemed to be fine before. I checked the fluid in the trans. There us still a leak, but when I opened the fill plug, MTF drained out because I apparently overfilled it. I let it drain and put the plug back in. When I have the car in gear and the clutch is pressed all the way down, the gear is already grabbing and the rpms are below idle like the gear is grabbing and isn't getting enough fuel to take off, so the engine almost dies unless I put it back in neutral. So if I want to get going, I have to shift and almost immediately start giving it gas.
Hope this makes sense and someone can help me! Thanks.

Re: Clutch and shifting problems after replacing axle seals.
First check the fluid level in the clutch master cylinder. If it is low then check both the master and slave cylinders for leaks. If the level is fine then I would bleed the system.
