Clutch or Synchronizers or...?

Lately I've been having some issues shifting. Here are the following symptoms:
  • Getting into gear: When I go to shift it often feels like there's something blocking it from going into gear, especially in high-ish RPMs.
  • Grinding: Then when it finally goes into gear, I often get some grinding even though I have the pedal down to the floor. It's happened in all gears, but mostly 2nd, 3rd, and 4th. I get grinding less frequently if I shift early (low RPMs)
  • I can put the vehicle in any gear and let off the clutch without the vehicle dying. On jacks, I can put the clutch in, put it in gear, and the wheels start spinning for a few seconds then come to a stop (even though I have not let off the clutch), then let off the clutch and the wheels continue to spin until I take the car out of gear again.

Other details:
  • 140k miles
  • Factory clutch (as far as I know. I bought it at 80k)
  • Not driven like a racer
  • Pedal still feels solid
  • Checked the master & slave cyl. for leaks, none. Reservoir is at good level
  • Doesn't appear to be slipping, everything seems as responsive as it's always been
  • Replaced the old MTF with honda genuine, didn't seem to help

Any tips or advice is well appreciated!

I can put the vehicle in any gear and let off the clutch without the vehicle dying.......

and the wheels start spinning for a few seconds then come to a stop (even though I have not let off the clutch), .....

......Doesn't appear to be slipping,
If you can be sitting still and not stall the engine when you let the clutch out, that clutch is slipping.

Will the clutch disengage completely with the pedal on the floor, can you engage gears easily while stopped? Or does it grind then too?

Kinda sounds like the disc or pressure plate may have let go, now it won't disengage fully and can't engage fully either.

It goes into gear fine while stopped.

Ok then scratch the last line.
Sounds like you described both clutch slippage and trans internal problems.

Re: Clutch or Synchronizers or...?

I have an appointment with my mechanic to do the clutch on Monday. I'm just hoping that I'm not replacing the clutch on a bad transmission.

Describe all the issues, have him drive it before taking it apart.
