Overheating

05 Civic changed water pump and thermostat and still overheats. How can I tell if it’s head gasket or radiator? Help please

Re: Overheating

Does the coolant back up out of the radiator overflow?

There is a sticky somewhere that explains the best way to check I thought.

Re: Overheating

I just purchased the car 1 week ago and knew it needed a water pump. Replaced water pump then drove it around the block. Temp started rising, got it home and popped the hood. Checked and over flow tank was full. When I started to remove the cap there was pressure behind it and started to come out. That’s the only experience I have so far with driving it.

Ok The over flow does start to fill up and with the motor off you hear a bunch of bubbling coming through the over flow. Which I would believe to be sign of needing a new head gasket. Is it worth it to fix or should I just eat my loss and try to find something else

Re: Overheating

It’s worth fixing if you do it yourself. Otherwise, find a new car.

Only use OEM Honda parts, and get the head checked by a machine shop
