Head gasket

So I have a 2005 lx 1.7 non vtec and I got a aftermarket multi layer steel head gasket drove it for about a hundred miles then it started to overheat again I did a compression test and found one of the cylinders was pushing combustion gas into the coolant once again so I got a oem head gasket and just found out it’s just a multi layer steel too would a carbon head gasket work better or am I just doing something wrong or is it really a hit or miss with these cars

Re: Head gasket

What brand was the first head gasket?

Did you take the head to a machine shop to be checked and milled flat?

Re: Head gasket

OEM head gasket is ~$60 on Amazon. Make sure the block surface is clean. Follow the service manual for head bolt torqueing.
