'05 civic lx no spark [solved]

I have checked fuses and sensors, replaced the crank sensor and still no spark. Initially it was intermittent non starts then nothing. No check engine light, no codes. Any suggestions? The manual says PCM/ECU but I want someone else's opinion before going that route.

There should be some troubleshooting steps to try before replacing the ecu

immobilizer
you will need to reprogram your key to ECU
Also, check if any alternator bolts are loose

There is no fob, this is the key, is there a chip in it? Alternator bolts are tight.

Yes, flashing green key means immobilizer issue. Immobilizer disables fuel pump and spark. Do you have another key you could try?

call a locksmith, nowadays they have the machines to program.
Unsure, but that key is quite beaten up... might be it?

Thank you, it is definitely the key, did a temporary immobilizer override (using the key) n she fired right up. Thank you all so much! That "blinking green key" should be the first thing to check when it "cranks but don't start!"

Re: '05 civic lx no spark [solved]

Just a note...the girl had a bejeweled metal ring on the ignition interfering with the signal to the immobilizer. Hondas can't have those!
