2004 EX, Keyless entry doesn't work. Car won't turn over.

I got a 2004 EX from a friend for a couple hundred bucks. It was intended to be my daughter's car, as she's turning 16 soon. We drove the car to my house, and she started it a few times after that. The car needed an alternator, so the battery died eventually and the car sat for a few months while I waited for the FL heat to cool down a little (it still hasn't). I put an alternator on the car, and a new battery, and the car will not start. Doesn't even turn over. I thought maybe it had something to do with the dead battery in the fob, so I replaced that, which is when I noticed that doesnt do anything either. Even with a fresh battery. Not sure if they're connected, or totally separate.

Where should I begin with getting this thing to start again?

Well, I went out, removed the air box, and jumped the starter manually, to start trying to track a problem, and not it works. Maybe it was just the solenoid stuck.

Before reading down to the edit I was going to ask if you tried tapping on the starter and solenoid with a hammer or other object. Sometimes tapping the starter is enough to get it to work temporarily before replacing it. Jumping it as you did is even a better test.

Might need to throw a starter in it if it happens again
