Valve spring compressor D17A2 VTec

Can anyone recommend a good in car valve spring compressor tool? It's a 2002 Civic EX VTEC.

The crappy one from harbor freight isn't fitting on the valve spring. Go figure. I might hitch a ride to AutoZone and try there $20 version.

I'm hoping someone here has some beta on one that will work for sure.

Finding plenty of tools that thread into the rocker arm assembly holes for B series but so far nothing for d series. Searching on the form turned up nothing too.

Thanks in advance!

Re: Valve spring compressor D17A2 VTec

not sure the brand I used, but it took me a good amount of searching and calling to find it locally. It looked similar (if not nearly identical) to this one I found on Amazon. I still had to get creative when taking off the intake valves because of the spark plug tubes.

Thanks for the reply. Unfortunately that style won't work for me since I'm not removing my head.

I'd like to find one like this but for d series

Re: Valve spring compressor D17A2 VTec

oh yeah, those overhead ones you can pick up at autozone won't work on the d17. You'll need to remove the head to remove the valves
