rough Idle Stall and temp fluctuates [solved?]
rough Idle Stall and temp fluctuates [solved?]
Ok, my daughter has a 04 civic vp.
It started running rough. Low idle, shakes and will cut off at a stand still. All plugs and wires have been replaced and 3 different shops have looked at it.
1 said injectors and they were replaced. Didnt fix anything. So the other 2 said they had no clue, wasn't anything like a head gasket or exhaust, because those test were done. The only thing the scanner will show is a random misfire on cylinder 3 and 4. You can give it gas and it will drive, but after about 15 mins the temp gauge starts to dance. Checked all the coolant and everything is fine there. We are all literally stumped.
Any and All Ideas are welcome!!!

Iac/egr for idle + misfire.
connect a scanner and see if it shows the correct temp

well, that is a sure sign of a breached head gasket...
if you want to confirm further, there is a video on the first post here, do that test. Other tests will not work for the D17 engines in our cars... Don't waste money on those.

the gasket breach will:
best to change the timing belt at same time if it have been around 100k miles since last change
- when engine running, the exhaust gases will go to the coolant and push it through the overflow reservoir
- when engine stopped, coolant will seep in the cylinders and cause misfire
