car stalls coming to a stop
car stalls coming to a stop
1.7 MT. the car started stalling only when I come to a stop when the engine is at operating temp. It only stalls on decel right before it comes to a full stop. I replaced the air filter with a Honda air filter, it seemed to have made it worse (i.e. it will stall on deceleration at like 20mph vs, 5mph, now) I can have the clutch out/out of gear and it will stall, or clutch in/in gear and it will stall. It doesn't happen when everything is still cold, gets worse as it gets hotter.
I took it to a shop, they said it needs a new clutch system.
I called Action Clutch (using a stage-1 for the past year) they said it definitely was not the clutch.
I'm leaning towards the culprit - thrust bearings? Fuel injectors? (original fuel injectors w/ 200,000mi)
Thanks for reading, and thanks for any info.

Re: car stalls coming to a stop
Like turning the key to off, it'll start back up without hesitation. Doesn't sputter. The car only has a 12 minute commute to work and a 12 minute commute back home. It was happening maybe once a week, it'd be right as i was pulling into the neighborhood. Now, it happens during the drive after maybe 5-8 minutes. It'll be okay in the morning, not okay going home in the afternoon. Heat seems to make it worse.
I'm thinking bearings, I see lots of posts for civic's "stalling coming to a stop" 5th, 6th, 7th, 8th gen civics, autos and manuals, worse with manuals. I likely should try cleaning the IAC, and throttle body, but, I cleaned those, plus the EGR passages - as a PM a couple years ago when I had the intake off to get to the steering rack.

Re: car stalls coming to a stop
that was a description of how the engine stalls, nothing is seemingly wrong with any of the electrics. My battery/alternator/connections/grounds are fine. the engine doesn't sputter out, or try to catch itself at idle, it's /like/ I turned the key to ACC. I could turn the car on right now, go drive it around, and after 5-10 minutes it will only stall when I come to a complete stop, clutch-in/ or out.. I haven't been driving the car since it started happening more frequently as it seems mechanical. No CEL. Which to me says it's going the engine is going to spin a part that shouldn't spin.
