So My clutch is toast ( so I think)

I was just driving home from beach, I go to downshift and put it back into gear and well I can't. Wont go in gear and when I push in clutch, the RPMS don't even move. It's like the clutch is useless. This is my clutch completely gone correct? I managed to get off the hwy and try to trouble shoot, couldn't figure out why so I managed to get it in 3rd and drove it from a stop in 3rd all the way home. Now I'm pissed.


I'm thinking it's a clutch issue becuase i shift say while racing at a high RPM it never catches, and sometimes grinds... Which is why i stopped doing that. But now the clutch is gone So i think.

Let me know if you can confirm it's the clutch.

replace the clutch, pressure plate and flywheel, it should go away, how many miles on the car?

could be synchros, too, especially if you were shifting it hard quite a bit and it was grinding. don't "race" in an econo-car.

If your clutch was gone you could put it in gear, it would just rev without going anywhere. It sounds more like the slave cylinder.

how do i confirm this?


IF the car is off I can shift it in gears, but if the car is on, forget it.

its not synchros then, id go with clutch and pressure plate, and resurface the flywheel
