Intermediate loss of power on acceleration and rough idle
Intermediate loss of power on acceleration and rough idle
Hey guys and gals, I have an 02 civic, non v-tech, manual transmission with almost 230k miles on it. I got the car on September and it ran great for about a month and then started having issues. It intermittently started to act like it was running out of gas while accelerating but if I pumped the gas it would jerk really hard and pick back up. Also anytime it's idling for more than a min or so, it will start to idle very rough on and off, sometimes so much that it will die. Sometimes it runs perfect but other times it's almost impossible to drive. It threw a CEL for a bad upstream O2 sensor and a bad electrical load detector. I replaced the O2 sensor with no change, had honda diagnose it and they said it was the ELD so I had them change it today and it ran better than it ever has for about 30 mins and then started doing the same old crap. Currently don't have any codes stores but onelce it throws a code I'll check it but was wondering what else it might be? It drives just fine on the highway, but around town it really struggles. Seams to be worse in extreme cold and extreme heat and after prolonged driving around town. If I could find a Honda master tech to fix it I would gladly pay them to, but it seams all the Honda techs now days don't know jack about these older ones so I'm left to figure it out on my own.
