Hello All,
this is my first post on the forum and I have a question regarding cylinder head replacement. I have a high mileage civic (2005 Honda Civic Ex D17A2 1.7L AT(nothing special) )
I’m having to do the head gasket and I’ve been enjoying working on this car so now I want to do a rebuild. I’m down to the head gasket and I’m wondering as to if I buy a rebuilt cylinder head assembly online, if I will have to do something special in regards to timing it. When I removed my current cylinder head assembly I simply marked on the belt with whiteout. If I bought a new one will I not be able to simply replace?

I’d just take your head to a machine shop. Unless the engine overheated, it should be fine.

Are you planning on reusing the timing belt?

thanks for the reply, I did water pump and timing belt a month before so I’ll reuse it. And thanks for the machine shop tip
