HEAD BOLT — Not like the rest!

I’m finally doing the head gasket on my 2002 Honda Civic Ex 1.7 L D17A2
I cleaned out the bolt holes & bolts. I wanted to try just running them down by hand before I actually put the cylinder head back on the block so I oiled up the bolts and I just screwed them down as far as they would go by hand. I guess you would call that just hand tight.(finger tight?)

The problem is the bolt in the photo with the red arrow which is the very top right bolt screwed down further than all of the rest which the rest of the head bolts seem to be the same height above the block and that top right one that I pointed out is about an inch lower than all the rest.

also I want to add that when I was removing my cylinder head which I did in sequence by the book, I noticed that out of all the bolts the only one that made a screeching sound was that top right bolt so I don’t know what the heck would be going on with it but my intuition tells me that it’s supposed to be the same height as all the rest.
when I look down into the hole it looks the same as all the other ones but I did another test where I just took a long plastic stick and I stuck it down all of the different holes and go figure all of the holes were the same depth except for that top right one which was a little bit deeper than all the rest.

I’m so confused. Thank you anyone that takes the time to read this and respond I appreciate it.
Just paid local machine shop 526 bones to have head resurfaced and valves taken care of.
I really want to do this right and I don’t wanna have to do it again within the next 5 to 10 years lol so I’m going to wait until I figure out why that hole is deeper than the rest.. and I’d it going to negatively impact the head gasket if I were to install it as is.

just to add.. As long as it has good thread engagement (i.e. more than a few good rotations of the bolt once the threads make contact) and torques down properly

Thanks guys. I figured it would be okay I just wanted to get some opinions. I don’t have any car people in my zone of influence so I rely on these type of interactions.
O did a little more investigating after my post. It appears that the reason the bolt is seating lower than the rest because the hole isn’t chamfered.
All the others are.. I wonder if this is a factory mistake or if someone has had the head off before.

That's what we're here for. We have a lot of experience under our collective belts

Been a minute since I've messed with a D17, but I can't recall if there was one different or not. My work block imgur, but I know I have some pics scattered around the forum. I'll try and take a look around and see if I can find anything that would tell us if it's normal or not

Re: HEAD BOLT — Not like the rest!

Go full send.

Just as long as, with the head on, that bolt has good thread engagement, you're solid.
