03 hybrid - thermostat replacement
03 hybrid - thermostat replacement
Any one here ever replace the thermostat on an 03 Civic Hybrid?
Note, it's nothing like other Civics, the layout is different.
Just below the thermostat housing is the coupling box for the HV Battery line, it looks like it may block access for removing the thermostat housing, any tips?
The thermostat housing bolts are easily accessible but looks like I may have to remove more stuff, or is there enough wriggle room to get it out?

Re: 03 hybrid - thermostat replacement
Not many of us have much experience with the hybrids, they weren't terribly popular. It may be a good idea to pick up a Haynes (or equivalent) service manual for the hybrid if you intend on doing more work on it yourself.
Re: 03 hybrid - thermostat replacement
Mine is probably ever rarer, it also has a manual transmission!
I fixed all the other minor issues, and all I'm left with is a sticking thermostat (throws code). I may not fix it, as the car seems to work fine, there is a slight split second hesitance in the engine when the car is getting up to temperature, at the switching point, other than that you wouldn't know anything was amiss.
It definitely has it oddities, 8 spark plugs!
