Smile New guy w/'03 Civic Hybrid

Hi - I'm Dave and I inherited an '03 Civic Hybrid w/CVT from one of my best friends. R.I.P., Charlie.

It's a great car - everything works and it drives as a Honda should. I've never owned a Honda car (I've owned a couple of their bikes which are great), but I did work at a Honda dealer in 1988/89, so I have quite a bit of Honda seat time.

It's about to turn 151K miles. I'm wondering if there are any inherent weirdnesses in this model I should keep an eye/ear out for?

Thanks a lot!

Dave

Welcome.

What Honda bikes did/do you have? I have a CB350 and my dad's had a CX650 Turbo since the mid-'90s.

I'm not super familiar with the Hybrid, but I've heard a few horror stories about the CVT's.

Thanks.

I had a '70 CL450 in the late '80s. I still have my '76 CB750/4, which needs work just like most of my other old junk.

I love 750/4's. One day I'll own one.

They are pretty badass.

Mine is the SOHC 4 with an aftermarket 4 into 1 pipe - sounds suhWEET when you wind her out. That reminds me - I need to get her running.

SO many projects - so little time.

Re: New guy w/'03 Civic Hybrid

Yeah the old Honda 4-cylinders sound awesome. I wished my 350 was a 4, but it's just a twin.

I had an '81 XS1100 Special as a winter project a couple years ago and it never had the sound I wanted. Put a Kerker 4-1 but it still wasn't throaty at all. Ended up selling that last April and the ZX7 is my main bike now. Completely different bike but it has power that I've never felt before in anything else. The 350 just sits in the garage now.
