Thread specs?

Hey all.

Long fixing' my 2001 Honda Civic Lx - been driving it since I was 16.

I'm looking for confirmation for y'all experts on Thread Size - I'm about to take a plunge into Helicoil purchases.

Alternator Bolt (not the adjustment bolt): It's like 80mm? M10 - pitch 1.5?
Exchaust to Manifold on cylinder head bolts: M8 - pitch 1.25?
Valve Cover bolts: M6 - 1.0

I'm least certain about the Alternator Bolt....I stripped out my threads for the alternator bracket. Got a different one out of a junk yard. It's a bit corroded, so couldn't get any bolts from the hardware store to fit. Hoping to just buy a bolt from w/e store and use that instead of buying a automotive one

The exhaust and Valve Cover bolts, I'm more certain about. I found a store with a thread gauge mounted on a wall (stupid) and held my valve cover up to it and rotated everything. I'm pretty sure I got it right. Same w/ exhaust. But if ya got the numbers in front of you, I'd love a confirmation before I spend heaps on helicoils

Get this doll running again!

Thanks!!!

Re: Thread specs?

I should be able to check all of those but you'll have to wait until I get home in like eight hours.

Re: Thread specs?

Alternator is M10 x 1.25. You got the other two right.

Re: Thread specs?

Excellent! Thanks for that.

Yeah, I won't be able to get that bolt at the hardware store. They don't sell that thread.
Special order time!

Thanks! Really appreciate it.

Re: Thread specs?

you talking about the bolt the alternator pivots on (the top mounting bolt) If you got a Pep Boys near by, they may. They always have weird bolts in their fastener aisle.

Otherwise, here's the part number if you wanna go with Honda OEM: 90313-PLC-010

If you got a cool Honda dealership near you, they may price match genuine Honda parts dealer price + shipping (One of 3 in my area does). Doesn't hurt to ask.

My go to online parts dealers:
www.hondaautomotiveparts.com
www.hondapartsunlimited.com
www.hondapartscheap.com
www.hondapartsnow.com
www.collegehillshondaparts.com
www.bernardiparts.com

Almost in that order, but i'll usually go with whoever has the best price + shipping at the end of the day. If you can bear to wait for shipping, that's how I do nowadays.

Re: Thread specs?

Alternatively, go to the junkyard and grab one for a few dollars.

The alternator bolt length is 98 mm by the way.
